Do you want the chance to shape health services in Horsham?

Tuesday 7th December, 2010

People are being given the opportunity to have their say and improve health services in the Horsham area.

GPs in Horsham are looking for a member of the public to work directly with them to make sure that local health services meet what is needed and to see what can be improved.

The person will become a lay member on the Executive Board of the Horsham Commissioning Consortium, which is made up of seven member GP practices that provide health services for more than 70,000 people in and around Horsham.

Following the publication of the NHS White Paper in July this year, GP consortiums are becoming more important to the future of the local NHS as they will start to take over responsibility for buying and checking health services across the country from 2013, replacing primary care trusts.

GPs in Horsham want someone to join them as they start to move forward through this change, to help them ensure that local health needs are met.

Anyone who would like to apply should have an interest in health matters, be comfortable with public speaking and be able to make the meetings of the Horsham Commissioning Consortium which happen once a month on every second Wednesday from 3pm to 5pm, normally at one of the GP practices in the area.

Although the role is not paid, travel and out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.

Anyone who is interested in applying for the role should contact Lauren Hadwick at NHS West Sussex as soon as possible:

By phone - 01903 708405
By email - lauren.hadwick@westsussexpct.nhs.uk

Applications must be in by the 17 December.

Interviews will be held on Wednesday 22 December 2010.
