Smiles all round as new NHS dentist opens its doors in Worthing
Friday 29th July, 2011
Seeing a NHS dentist is now even easier for people in Worthing as a new NHS dental practice opens in the town.
The Tooth Booth practice is opening on Monday 1st August at 13 Broadwater Boulevard, next to Broadwater Medical Centre – and can take on more than 5,000 NHS patients.
It is a completely new practice for the town and local people who are looking for an NHS dentist can request an appointment by calling the team at Tooth Booth on 01903 202 411, emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or visiting their website www.toothbooth.co.uk and clicking on "Find A Practice".
Coming to Worthing to make a difference
David Abraham, Operations Manager at Tooth Booth, said: “We are delighted to be opening a new dental practice for NHS patients in Worthing.
“We already have established dental practices across the South East and we are looking forward to bringing that experience to Worthing to provide NHS treatment for the people of the town.
“Our new practice provides state-of-the-art facilities, with disabled access and the highest standards of hygiene.
“It will be open from 8.30am to 5pm. People will be able to receive general dental care and urgent treatment.”
Local NHS investing in dentistry
The new practice has been possible thanks to a major £1.8million investment in dentistry across the county by the local NHS.
The investment has increased capacity at a number of existing practices in West Sussex and is leading to three new practices opening in Crawley, Worthing and Chichester.
Altogether the money will mean an extra 5,700 people a year in the Worthing area will be able to see an NHS dentist and an extra 25,000 across the whole of West Sussex.
Working hard to increase NHS dentists taking on new patients
David Grant, West Sussex’s Dental Contracts Manager, said: “We are very pleased to be working with the team at Tooth Booth to create a new practice for people in Worthing.
“We have been working very hard in recent years to increase the number of NHS dentists available across West Sussex, and this new practice proves our ongoing commitment to improve access for everyone to dental services in this county.
“One in four of NHS dental practices in West Sussex are taking on new patients and the latest figures show that 92 per cent of people in West Sussex who have tried to get an appointment with an NHS dentist in the last two years have been successful. And Tooth Booth in Worthing will increase that even further.
“If you are looking for an NHS dentist, you can get details of all the West Sussex dental practices accepting new NHS patients from the Sussex NHS Dental Helpline on 0300 1000 899 or the NHS Choices website www.nhs.uk.”
The number of people seeing an NHS dentist in West Sussex is continuing to rise – currently it is around 432,000 people across the county – a rise from the end of 2007 when that was just 403,000.
This extra investment follows on from an additional £1.5m spent during 2008/9 to secure NHS dentistry for approximately 20,000 new patients.
