ID2010 measures relative deprivation, i.e. how deprived one area is compared to another.

Previous indices have been used to determine a range of funding streams, including central Government funding.

Local interpretation

The Research Unit in Public Health has undertaken an analysis of the indices and a report is now available.

A range of maps, data files and presentational material is also available and Public Health staff are available to present the findings if needed.

We are also working with District and Borough council colleagues to support localised use and understanding.

Further work will be undertaken when background data are released by DCLG.

Note : Due to boundary changes, the number of local authorities in England fell between the 2007 and 2010 indices (from 354 in 2007 down to 326) so we have recalculated 2007 and 2004 LA and county rankings to understand the change in relativeposition of our local authority areas.
