Patient Transport Service - Policy
The non-urgent patient transport policy is in compliance with Department of Health Guidelines. The policy provides information for all members of staff, members of the public and healthcare professionals who make travel arrangements on behalf of patients.
The policy is designed to ensure that the NHS provides a punctual and professional patient transport service to eligible patients.
The policy incorporates the means tested reimbursement process for service users who are entitled to claim their travel costs if patient transport is not provided and provides guidance towards alternative travel means for patients who are not eligible for free transport.
