Patient Transport Service Review
NHS Sussex is working to improve the non-urgent Patient Transport Service (PTS). This is the service offered to help people get to healthcare appointments with community and hospital care providers. It does not include urgent ambulance journeys.
To improve this service NHS Sussex has been inviting patients, the public, clinicians and providers to have their say on the future of the service to ensure a redesigned model meets their expectations.
We aim to have a new service specification drafted by September 2011.
It is important to us that the improved service meets the needs of those who use it, we would really appreciate your thoughts on what works, what doesn’t and what is most important to you.
You can contact us with any thoughts you have on the service, or address these question that were asked at our public events earlier in the year:
- What have been your positive and negative experiences using PTS?
- We intend to introduce a single Patient Transport Bureau that will allow patients to request transport across Sussex. What are your top 5 priorities for this part of the service?
- Can you describe in one word what you would expect from a PTS?
To offer your thoughts please email Wendy.Mahoney@westsussexpct.nhs.uk and Elaine.Gain@westsussexpct.nhs.uk
