Microsoft browser choice update: March 2010
You may be aware of a recent EU ruling requiring Microsoft to offer all Windows users the ability to choose which Internet Browsing software they want to use.
This is being done by distributing a “Browser Choice update” pop-up to all desktops via the Windows auto-update during March. Some users have already received this pop-up on their desktops. Depending on how desktops are configured to receive auto-updates, users may be presented with a forced pop-up box giving them the opportunity to install one of 21 separate Internet Browsers.
Choose and Book is currently fully supported with Internet Explorer 6 and 7, and will be supported by Internet Explorer version 8* from release 4.3, due in April. The ActiveX control currently being distributed for Choose and Book R4.3 is configured to work with Internet Explorer only.
It is recommended that steps are taken to either prevent the browser choice pop-up from appearing to users (details below), or take steps to advise users delay choosing from the pop-up until after Cab R4.3 (browser choice only gives version 8 as option for Internet Explorer).

Referrals in Emis
NHS Surrey has carried out a project investigating referral problems in Emis. The report is attached and a useful reference document.
Fault identified using Emis LV and Lablink
Investigations received via Lablink and included in a Choose and Book referral can be truncated and information lost by the time it is received by the provider. Emis advises practices that lablink documents should be sent as an attachment.
Attaching Docman documents
Lots of people have had trouble attaching documents to a Choose and Book referral that have been scanned in Docman. If you are experiencing this please check the file extension that Docman is saving these documents to and change it if necessary. Guidance on how to do this is available by clicking on this link:

Mercury timeout error when sending referral letter in EMIS
A resolution has been released on LV Client Patch 143. Please be advised that your referral may still not show on the activity list for up to 15 minutes but you will now no longer experience any unnecessary occurrence of the "Mercury Call Error - Operation Timed Out" message.
