Mental health
Mental health services in West Sussex fall into three broad categories:
- psychological therapies in GP and community settings
- specialist mental health support in inpatient settings or the community
- services provided by the voluntary sector.
Improving services for people with dementia and their carers
NHS West Sussex and West Sussex County Council have committed to implementing a number of changes to improve the quality and availability of services for people with dementia and their carers.
Together we have committed to our Joint Commissoning Intentions for Dementia care services to improve what is available in West Sussex. These joint commissoning intentions detail what we have done, what we are planning to do and what we hope to achieve.
Working in partnership to improve emotional wellbeing
We are also promoting the use of the Mental Wellbeing Impact Assessment toolkit. This toolkit supports policymakers, planners and people delivering programmes and services to identify how a proposal will impact on mental wellbeing and what can be done to ensure that it has the most impact. It can also be used to inform revision of the Local Area Agreement and district-level action plans.
