Coastal West Sussex Community Bed Review

Phase 1: Engagement research and analysis

Coastal West Sussex Clinical Commissioning Group, an emerging clinical commissioning group working with NHS Sussex, has been undertaking, in partnership with local stakeholders including the Public Reference Panel and the Local Involvement Network (LINks) a review of community beds. This included community beds on the following sites;

  • Arundel & District
  • Bognor War Memorial
  • Darlington Court
  • Midhurst
  • Salvington Lodge
  • Zachary Merton.

We know how important community beds are to our patients and the local health economy, so it is vital such a key resource is used wisely and efficiently. As such this review has sought to gather data and develop a shared understanding of the current community bed system.

The Phase 1 Report details the findings to date, and covers issues including estate, workforce, cost and performance. This information will be used, in partnership with local stakeholders, as the project enters Phase 2 and begins developing recommendations for the future use of this importance resource.

Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA)

Since May 2010, all primary care trusts (PCTs) like NHS West Sussex have been required by law to publish a Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) and keep it updated.

The Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment maps the pharmaceutical services available in West Sussex, examines the health and wellbeing needs of people in West Sussex and looks at how providers of pharmaceutical services could contribute to meeting those needs.
