Chronic pain management service
What does this service do?
The Chronic Pain Service provides a comprehensive multi-disciplinary assessment by the Pain Assessment Triage Team (PATT), working closely with the Musculo-skeletal, Physiotherapy and Rheumatology departments to ensure patients receive a high quality standard of care.
Patients are encouraged to self-manage their conditions, and are provided with educational support to assist in their choices of treatment and lifestyle adaptation. This is done through educational workshops, group drop-in sessions and pain management programmes.
Other treatment options include:
- medication review
- TENS service
- specialised physiotherapy services including myofascial pain techniques and acupuncture.
- access to advanced medical imaging if appropriate
- interventional pain relief techniques for selected patients
- advanced neuromodulation trial technique: spinal cord stimulation in conjunction with Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath.
Where are patients seen?
The service is based at the Richard Hotham Unit at Bognor Regis War Memorial Hospital but is for all West Sussex patients.
