What is available to help me stop smoking in West Sussex?
There are more than 150 places to get support from the NHS to stop smoking in West Sussex. Find out more below and see which one will suit you:
Group sessions
Group sessions are a fun and sociable way to quit smoking. These groups last for six weeks and are a very effective way to stop smoking. There are around 15-20 people in each group, and the session is run by a trained stop smoking advisor.
Quitting with other people in the same boat can be really effective and many group members, who have successfully quit, recommend them to friends and colleagues.
The group sessions start a couple of weeks before you go smokefree. Your first sessions help you to plan and prepare to quit. After you go smokefree your group will meet each week for advice and motivation.
Groups are held all over West Sussex. If you are interested in getting involved in a group call 0300 100 1823.
Drop-in sessions
Drop-in sessions are ideal if you’re a commuter or can’t get access to support during the day. They are held across West Sussex and are usually in the evening.
You will get support from one of our trained specialist stop smoking advisors who can offer you help and support, including follow up advice on a one-to-one basis or through a group session. They can also offer the same medication and methods that you would find at your own GP surgery.
